ABOUT FACE

So it’s the night before I have to order my kitchen cabinets and like any reformed grad student, I’m cramming. Scouring pinterest and my houzz apps. Pulling out old Southern Living’s like I’m a crazed housewife (partially true). My plan for a chic, grey kitchen has now changed to white. Like all of my remodeling plans, I feel like I always chicken out and go for an all-white palette. I wanted to be daring and different but I worry that my risk will fall flat and will look completely dated in 5+ years. So I’m playing it safe and keeping it clean, classic and white. And I’ll be daring with my citrine couch pillows.

If you happened to find yourself lost in our new house (super unlikely considering its size), let the various wallpapers throughout the house guide your way:

Pots & pans – I’m in the kitchen!

I’m in Europe!! (the basement but it’s a pretty sophisticated basement)

Well, the pots & pans have been a little depressed lately since the new owners, so we had a jumper. Lucky enough for us, there is wallpaper UNDERNEATH the pots & pans which is even better! Bottles of spices, a 60’s crockpot, genius. All to let our guests know they are STILL in the kitchen. How thoughtful.

We drove my in-law’s by the new house to take a look. And even though we tried to lower their expectations, their reaction was still underwhelming. An artist’s rendering of their reaction is below.

Mobile Home Sweet Home
In one of my nightly real estate searches (it’s a sickness), I ran across this estate sale. I immediately texted our friend and realtor-extradorinaire Lucas. We met him at the house and upon pulling up, he tactfully says, “well, it’s the nicest mobile home I’ve ever seen”.  I want to assure you I’ve checked, and there is a basement and foundation. We did not purchase a mobile home, however it looks so much like one we’ve dubbed it ‘the double-wide’. Rest assured I have plans to change the front and roofline friends! Until then, our new neighbors will have to live with this beauty.

WELCOME HOME

In order to properly introduce you all to our fabulous new house new money pit, we thought we’d show you the house and our family on closing day! Who doesn’t love a good before and after shot? Plus I wanted to document our youthfulness before beginning this project – I’m sure the after picture will include not only a fabulous house, but lots more grey hair and wrinkles (you can determine which goes on which). So here is the cheesy “We bought a HOUSE!!” shot, complete with family pet. Nothing says ‘you’ve arrived’ more than your first mobile home. More about that later.
